"The year is 2009 and Harry Potter… is dead. Actually, he’s been dead – for ten years, as a matter of fact. And guess what? Voldemort won. That thing with the Horcrux, where Harry came back to life? It didn’t happen. The Chosen One is in a ditch somewhere, buried six feet deep, and the most evil Dark Wizard of all time is on the prowl.

What? That’s not what happened in the books!, you might be thinking, and guess what? You’re right. But then again, DM isn’t your typical, book-based Harry Potter roleplay. See, we’re tired of HP sites that focus on freeform writing, tired of sites that all have the exact same messageboard areas and events. We’d like to do something a bit… different.

So, in this little alternate universe of ours, HPot is dead. We’ve established that fact. He died shortly after the Battle of Hogwarts, during which large parts of the castle were destroyed. After the battle, Hogwarts was closed down for ten long and eventful years. Now Hogwarts has been reopened, not as a school for the Dark Arts – far too many of Dumbledore’s allies remain for that, you see – but as the wizarding world’s only hope for a Voldemort-free future.

Of course, not all is well in the land of underage witches and wizards. Ravenclaw has sided with Slytherin and anti-Mudblood attacks are on the rise; Hufflepuff has allied with Gryffindor, which is attempting to resurrect Dumbledore’s Army. A tentative balance has been achieved, but a rift is growing within the school; there’s no telling when – or how – this equilibrium will shatter, but we don’t kid ourselves, we know it will..."
